How we choose recommendations

Some visitor guides include booking options for tours, rentals or tickets. If you book through those links, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

• The useful information comes first and is complete without the links, including free options.
• We pick what we’d recommend to a friend first, and only then check if there’s a commission. If the best option pays us nothing, we still recommend it.
• Nobody can pay to be listed. Paid placements, if we ever run them, are labeled as ads.
• We never place recommendations inside safety information, alerts or conditions.
• We write our own descriptions, and when we quote a rating, we say where it’s from and when.
